Opportunity

November 5, 2010 by Robert Walker

It is funny how so often in life something happens which acts as a trigger, or a catalyst, or a puff to blow away the fog, which helps or allows us to see what we should do. For example, [my recent] job ending helped me to see that I should be doing what I said I should do: start living my life the way I think I should. This kind of sign, or trigger, happens often in life. They help us to see the true path more clearly. And yet, it is up to us to walk it. It is also up to us to interpret the sign correctly (for, as I have seen many times by the example of those around me, we can get a sign and, like the football thrown to Forrest Gump, run the wrong way with it).

What are these signs, these moments? Opportunity. There are signs and moments of opportunity all around us all the time. They are the opportunity to see something differently, to open ourselves up to reality, to the flow of life, to what really is, as opposed to how we think and believe things to be. Every “moment” is an opportunity to awaken, to grow, to change, to move forward.

The signs are everywhere because truth is everywhere, hidden and distorted by illusions we keep in place via our own craving, and ignorance, and clinging. We distort reality via our cravings and illusions.

.

From my personal notes, 5/25/00
