I find it interesting that the typically Western understanding of what is “real” is based on an assumption that what is real is constant and unchanging. This assumption is fundamental to the very way most people think and act. A clinging to the idea of things being able to be unchanging or unchangeable, and thus eternal, permeates most Euro-American ideologies and thought processes. The act of clinging itself is a manifestation and demonstration of this. Without something to cling to, there is no reason to cling. Clinging is so ubiquitous to our society and culture that without it people would have no idea how to, or why to, do pretty much anything. This is, of course, in contrast to the idea (truth?) that everything is process-oriented, and, thus, to understand reality we must understand and accept process, and not look for something constant or eternal.
